In the lead up to our biggest event of the year, we’re taking a peek behind the desks of the influential women speaking at 9 to Thrive. We ask them everything from how much coffee they drink to how many tabs they have open on their computers right now. We kicked off the series with Eleanor Pendleton and Sally Obermeder & Maha Koraiem, deep dived into the beautiful world of fashion illustrator, Megan Hess, and caught up with social entrepreneur Celina Lazarus. Read on to find out how Bumble’s Country Lead, Michelle Battersby does her best work.
What does your workspace look like?
Creative, there is always a “buzz” and collaborative – we are always doing new things, laughing, moving things around and keeping each other entertained!
Can you describe it in 3 words?
Creative, vibrant, energetic.
What’s one thing that’s always on your desk?
An item of Bumble merchandise, at the moment its way too many stickers and a mug. However my team have interrupted me here and reminded me that it’s actually left over Uber Eats or a half finished tea (thanks team).
What time of day do you do your best work?
100% early in the morning. I try to come in before my team to get my head in the right place.
What’s the first thing you do when you sit at your desk in the morning?
Check Slack.
How many tabs do you have open on your computer?
12, omg.
How do you ensure you drink enough water throughout the day?
I am actively working on this at the moment. I am terrible but I just bought a 1.5L bottle and if it’s in front of me, I drink it.
What apps and tech can’t you live without?
How do you keep your day on track?
How much time do you spend on social media every week?

What do you do to forget about work? Recharge?
Do you have a Sunday night routine to ensure the week runs smoothly?
Michelle is joining our Tech Talks panel at 9 to Thrive in Sydney.
