My work life blend
Why are you a Business Chicks member?
To meet a wide group of driven and successful women at all stages of their journey. I love meeting people and always learning more whenever I have the opportunity.
What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?
There have been a few in my 20 year career. Firstly owning and operating a Financial Planning Practice that specialises in Ethical Investment and Women's Financial Planning advice. Being awarded the Young Adviser of the year 2005 award. Being Nominated for the National Women's Financial Advice Award 2011.
How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?
Talking to friends, family and colleagues to work out a strategy to overcome the obstacle. Learning from failure and coming back stronger!
What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?
Don't sweat the small stuff!
Which women inspire you and why?
Women who make a positive impact in all people's lives and who endeavour to change the world on a social and environmental level.
What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?
I have faced many challenges over the years with each bringing a different skill set to the table. I am constantly learning from these experiences. I am more resilient, compassionate and driven because of this.
What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)
I am great with people and connecting on a personal and business level. I also have another business I work in during my spare time (when I have it!) as a photographer and I am passionate and enjoy the process of photographing people and creating fine art work. I love looking at the images at the end of a shoot. I also love singing and playing the guitar on my own and with my husband.
What makes you happy?
My husband James who I own our Financial Planning practice with and my three girls who are 10, 9 & 4. They challenge me everyday and make me extremely happy!
What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)
Having a balanced healthy and wealthy life. Being successful in my home life and family life. Providing a valuable service to other people who need Financial Advice.
