"you can."

I am a 20 year old university student, studying a bachelor of Environmental Management. I am passionate about everything environmentally focussed and the push to sustainable choices in all aspects of life. Enthusiastic about business, I am excited about what women can bring to the world. I hope to one day, bring together my love of the environment and business, and start my own sustainable focussed company. I came to business chicks to learn, and to grow my tutoring company that I started in 2015, into something bigger and smarter than what it currently is. I am working whilst I study, in the real estate industry, in a female only business where I am surrounded by strong and smart women. This has influenced me significantly and continues to inspire me, and teach me how to take what I know, into the world and make it great.

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

I believe that the best way to be a kick-ass woman in today's society, is to surround yourself with them. So, I found myself here at business chicks, learning and growing through the process.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

I haven't had much of a career, as of yet, but I would have to say that the exponential growth of my small business would have to be the most surreal moment for me so far.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

Nothing is done right, or done well until you've hit a few speed bumps. Setbacks and failure is just a part of life. I believe that it's how you deal with it, that really matters. I would like to think that I deal with setbacks well, failures are difficult but are teaching moments, ultimately. And for fear, I can procrastinate in moments of fear, but tend to push myself enough to overcome the hurdle in front of me.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

do it and do it well.

Which women inspire you and why?

Give me a book and I'd fill every page. I am constantly inspired by women around me. Being of my age, and in the environmental spotlight, I would have to say that Greta Thunberg is my inspiration at the moment. I love how fearless she is to say what all of us are thinking, and how she, so young is challenging what the generation of now, and those before us are and were thinking. Another major inspiration for me is Rachel Carson. Carson wrote 'Silent Spring', a pivotal expose on the use of harmful chemicals such as DDT, and the impact it continues to have on our world. The list could go on for days... Em Rusciano, Julia Morris, Julie Mathers, Sophia Amoruso.... it just keeps going!

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

I believe the biggest challenge for me so far has been overcoming the stereotype that I often get given, studying what I am studying. I love rocks, soil, dirt, trees, the air.. I love everything about the earth, but I also love my eyebrows, and my hair, and my skin and makeup! I do believe that you can be two people, I know I definitely am. I struggle not being taken seriously in my studies, and this can be a real challenge for me, especially when trying to work professionally with others.

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

Something that I am really good at.... I think I am quite good at being the person who brings other people together. I am awesome at making new friends and meeting new people and love bringing people together. One of my friends actually calls me 'link'! Haha!

What makes you happy?

Plants. Coffee. Dogs

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

Success to me is waking up every morning excited for what's to come. There may be days that are a little less than the others, but I'll be happy if I wake up looking forward to what the day has in stall for me. Oh, and to be surrounded by plants. Now that's success.
