"What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us - Emerson"

I am a motivated, knowledgeable and experienced sales leader with +12 years experience in software sales and management across Africa, Middle East, North America, Australia and the APAC region. I specialise in team leadership and people management, SaaS sales and customer success strategies, client experience initiatives, complex stakeholder management, and implementing and developing business strategy across Client Success and Acquisition. I have implemented, scaled, and developed strategic, consultant-driven sales teams in line with regional and global objectives, and work well in collaborative environments that drive high standards and expectations, promoting a dynamic workspace that is challenging, fun and encourages a growth mindset. I am passionate about many things but close to my heart are animal conservation and protecting our planet for future generations, I would love to speak more about this or get involved in any initiatives relevant to this. Education is important to me, along with reading and learning about other people, cultures and different opinions - it's important to be challenged and open to change, we are a dynamic species yet so often close ourselves off to what we don't know or understand, imagine the possibilities. On a personal level, I love being in nature and adventuring out to new places I've not yet been, current goals are to summit Mt Kilimanjaro and visit the Gorillas in Uganda over the next 6-12 months, while I aim to also complete a half iron'human' in the next 24 months and hike to base camp, Mt Everest. Delicious food and gorgeous wines are my vice, and music keeps my soul full.

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

I have joined Business Chicks because I would love to expand my network and get to know what other women are doing in their lives, what businesses they're trying to get off the ground, promote or even just to learn from others. I have a few business ideas brewing and am inspired by people who are motivated and driven to chase their dreams, odds with or against them. Sharing stories, finding mentors, being a mentor, meeting new friends or potential business partners are all part of my journey here at Business Chicks, I'm really looking forward to meeting you all.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

There are two that stand out: 1) I have been a top sales performer globally over a number of years however in 2014 I was the highest performing sales person globally beating out the usual suspects from much larger markets in the company - that was a special moment and a huge sense of personal achievement. 2) I recently was told by a number of female colleagues that they look up to me as a strong female leader in the business and that my mentorship has gone a long way in their career and future decisions they will make. That meant a lot to me and I carry that badge of honour with me everyday, hoping to continue to have an impact if my advice is sought out.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

I find a glass of red wine tends to help navigate this ;) I'll take a step back or time out and figure out what I could have done differently or seek feedback and/or advice to get another perspective so that I can learn for future reference. If it's fear, I usually try understand why I'm fearful and give myself time, and find the right tools, to overcome that fear. I am motivated by 'fear', I like to overcome challenges and prove to myself that nothing is impossible, so I would say that the concept of fear is a positive thing for me.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Learn and understand what is 'energy giving' vs 'energy taking' in your life/ role/ career. Once you know what zaps energy vs re-energises you, approaching goals, business KPIs, leadership and team management is a lot more fun and 'possible' rather than staring down a black hole of doom and gloom. When you're down or having to to do something/ talk to someone who tends to upset or demotivate you, identify what will give you energy and pivot into that task/ talking to that person so that you're immediately thrust into a more positive experience. That being said, it's still important to 'eat the frog' - don't ignore the energy zapping situations but rather learn to approach it with a different perspective, I find focusing on what gives me energy helps me approach those challenging situations better.

Which women inspire you and why?

Honestly, everyday women inspire me...business owners, moms, friends, everyone is trying to achieve something yet is challenged by multiple factors unique to their story, how they go about their day and lives often gives me perspective and food for thought, I think everyone has an inspiring story to tell, we just need to listen to them. There are two women whose life stories have brought me to tears and left me in awe of where they are today despite the challenges thrown at them, Tara Westover (wrote Educated) and Nadia Murad (The Last Girl) - incredible stories from two very unique individuals.

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

What makes you happy?

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)
