"Live life to the full by making every single day count"

I'm Ray Pastoors, the founder of LYF Solutions, an ethical digital marketing firm dedicated to small businesses. I started my first entrepreneurial journey when I was seven years old selling stickers for the Australian Koala Foundation. From there, at the age of 12, I started a dropshipping business and imported products from China. Throughout these experiences, I connected with many different businesses. In addition, I gained corporate expertise at a large energy provider top ASX listed company and a global healthcare organisation. I enjoyed most of all empowering other small business owners to grow, particularly work from home mums. It's through this journey LYF begun. Today, we are a full service digital marketing firm that is committed to our client needs and helping them to grow. Our values are important to us. Not a mantra, or a thing we say - but something we live and do every day. We look forward to connecting with you.

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

To support and empower women in business, including my diverse team members.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

Waking up and realising I wanted to support small business owners and not work for a large corporation.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

I take a step back, remember the bigger picture and look to find a solution.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Focus on what you can control in life, not what you can't.

Which women inspire you and why?

Julia Gillard for her strong negotiation skills and proving you don't need to be a typical stereotype. Michelle Obama for her dedication to live a purpose-driven life, helping and empowering others to be their best self. Janine Allis for her incredible tenacity and spirit in her entreprenuerial journey.

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

There have been many, but I'd have to say the biggest challenge would be to scale my business. For quite some time I wanted to do everything, but over time realised that this was not healthy. I needed to get support to grow and help more small business owners by doing so, without compromising on values and purpose.

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

I love strategy, thinking about solutions to key problems. Insights is my jam and I could spend hours on hours finding hidden gems of information and turning this into a story. But most of all I really enjoy the rewards of seeing my clients succeed with their small business.

What makes you happy?

Sustainability in business and in life. There's no planet B.

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

Success for me would be to be able to grow my business in a way I can step back and let others handle the day to day operations of my business. I am getting there, although still, it's a while away to let go of all the moving parts.
