"Handle every situation with grace now...and a stiff G&T later."

I'm founder of Citizen Banter, a PR agency, and co-founder of Good Citizens, a recycled sunglasses business. We turn discarded PET bottles into sunnies! I have worked in PR for 20 years and in that time I have been fortunate enough to work on and advise some of the world's most loved brands including LEGO, Coca-Cola and American Express. It's also exciting to be working on something completely new that pushes me way out of my comfort zone. I've never worked in retail or manufacturing before, so everyday brings a fresh challenge!

Nurturing, compassionate, committed

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

Because now I don't have to go it alone!

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

My client asking me to set up my own PR agency and offering to be my founding client.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

I'm not great to begin with. I get frustrated and my ego gets knocked, but it doesn't normally take long to spot the learnings and move on.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

To not fill awkward silences with words

Which women inspire you and why?

Cate Blanchett - she's talented, opinionated, successful and carries herself so well. Carrie Bickmore and Rachel Weisz - for very similar reasons.

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

I'm still facing it! It's detaching from work when I'm at home. I've always found it hard to switch off and I now have two of my own businesses, it's really hard to be disciplined and not deal with something during the family meal or when you're trying to get the kids out the door to school. And working with my husband means we have to make a real effort to not talk about work all the time. It's made me more conscious of checking in to see how present I am.

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

Bringing clarity and a cool head to a situation

What makes you happy?

Reading the paper in peace with a good cup of coffee

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

Being able to run my businesses from anywhere in the world.
