""I am responsible for my life""

In my work as a coach and speaker I create the space for women to experience feeling worthy enough to live empowered, fulfilling and passionate lives. My upbringing in foster care has been a gift to me, because I know what it is like to be incredibly scared, and to be vulnerable... and to just not know. It also gave me the ability to be in the world of another, because every new family opened the door to a new world for me.My life experiences allow me to work with other women in a space of no judgment because I understand that we are all human, doing the best we can with what we have. A space of no judgement is a rare space for people to experience.I want to help shape a new paradigm for women to step in to, without guilt or apology.I also love endurance running, gardening, really great food, connecting deeply with my husband and children, and time doing absolutely nothing at all.

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

I can not remember when I first heard about Business Chicks, but soon after I did, I found myself at an intimate BC networking event in Melbourne. That night I met some wonderful women and I remember going home feeling incredibly excited. I still have that level of excitement whenever I am attending an event or have been asked to participate. It is a joy to be a part of such a powerful and generous community.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

I am very blessed that I get these moments often. Every time a client steps into her power, I feel increcible pride for her and with her.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

By allowing myself to 'feel' the setback, fear or failure. It is only once I have allowed myself to honour my feelings about it do I then look for what the next action will be. My choosen lessons come after that.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

If you compare yourself to anyone else, you will never be happy.

Which women inspire you and why?

Every women that is able in her own way to say, "I am here. I matter." And all of those women that support women who can not do this for themselves.

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

Being a foster child and having five primary carers growing up was a very big challenge, but that level of disempowerment has led to the work I do now. It is a privilage to support a woman to create what empowerment looks like for her without guilt or apology.

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

I am really good at my vocation and I respect it enough to continually master my craft. I am also good at running long distances, not just as an endurance runner, but in life. I am good at setting bounderies and doing what I say I am going to do. This is helped by the fact that I do not say yes to every request that is made of me.

What makes you happy?

That women are coming together to stand up and stand out for each other. I am also made happy by; Trees. Food. Moving my body and sweating. Making deep connections with others. Funny people.

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

My idea of success is living aligned with my values, and my values change as I change.
