My unique knowledge of Ayurveda, aromatherapy and natural skin care, together with my passion for health and wellness has underpinned my personal and business philosophy and the global success of Sodashi. I now promote the benefits of self-care, which ultimately helped me build a stronger company. When I first started Sodashi, the words "all-natural" and "skin care" didn't exist in the same sentence. I became known as a pioneer, educating the market that skin care products made from the purest botanical and marine extracts could also be high performing (and really work). I feel privileged to have made my passion my business. Another highlight of each year is sharing my passion for Aromatherapy in Provence, and where I share my extensive experience in aromatherapy.

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

I was drawn to Business Chicks by the impressive line-up of speakers at the events. I've since got to know Emma Isaacs and participated in the Power Players Group where I get the chance to connect with like-minded business women, sharing challenges and learnings in a supportive forum.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

There have been a few, but certainly launching Sodashi's super luxe anti-ageing Samadara Creme to international media in the Presidential Suite at Four Seasons Paris was a highlight.

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

My daily meditation gives me the clarity of mind to stand back and look at setbacks, failures and fears objectively and see them as opportunities to grow and learn. I try to remind myself that there are no mistakes, just learnings.

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

My Mother always told me that I could do whatever I really put my mind to, that what I gave my attention to would become my reality - it was a very powerful message growing up and is still a great reminder for me today.

Which women inspire you and why?

I'm inspired by women who are authentic, creative, innovative, who dare to be different. Women who have climbed their own mountains at some stage, or maybe still climbing them (like me). I heard Layne Beachley speak again the other day and was reminded what an awesome, real, down to earth lady that woman is and that inspires me!!

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

One of the biggest challenges was navigating the global financial crisis (GFC). Fortunately at Sodashi we manufacture all our products in-house so that we were able to scale down production as required, and manage cash flow very closely.

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

I'm really good at creating non-toxic skincare that really works. I've been blessed with a great 'nose' so I can blend essential oils to create amazing and effective aromas. I'm also really good at helping others to see the magic in themselves.

What makes you happy?

Teaching Aromatherapy in Skin Care in a gorgeous village in Provence, the south of France, (where the Lavender grows) makes me blissfully happy, creating a new Sodashi product, daily meditation, yoga, kayaking on Sydney Harbour and being with my beautiful friends and family.

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

Success for me is following my passion and staying true to myself. Living my own life every day with integrity, not succumbing to the pressure from those around me, and following my own path.
