"Just start - even if you're not 100% ready. You can catch up along the way, but if you wait for the perfect time it will never come!"

I'm an ex-advertising account director and mum of two with a passion for business and philanthropy. In March 2016 I launched a business with the purpose to fund maternal health programs around the world. Mama Maya is a brand of beautiful organic muslin baby wraps - they're ethically & fairly made in India to the most incredible quality. The best part? Every single purchase funds birthing kits for women living in remote areas of developing countries, to enable them to give birth safely and sanitarily - and we've helped over 8,000 mamas since our launch!

My work life blend

Why are you a Business Chicks member?

I LOVE the community. I love the support from the BC team, Latte and the events are always amazing.

What's been the biggest pinch-me moment of your career?

A couple so far - having Mama Maya featured in The Grace Tales, and being approached by, our main stockist in the USA - so exciting to be amongst the incredible stable of brands they retail!

How do you deal with setbacks, failures and fear?

I'm really learning to embrace them - I believe things happen for a reason, and that there's always something better around the corner. I love the quote from Marilyn Monroe: "Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together".

What's the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Just start - even if you're not 100% ready to go. I'm a perfectionist, and if I don't follow this advice then nothing would get done!

Which women inspire you and why?

I love women who exude confidence and determination to take on the world and achieve their goals, but do so with kindness and generosity at heart.

What's been the biggest challenge you have faced and how did it help shape who you are today?

What are you really good at? (We know this one's hard, you guys! As women, we tend to talk about what everyone else is good at. But now it's your turn.)

What makes you happy?

Sunshine, tea, holidays, spending time with my girlfriends and my beautiful family.

What's your definition of success, and how will you know when you've got there? (Go on, aim high!)

Success is when my husband and I have raised two beautiful boys to be caring, kind and generous equalists, and we all still love and enjoy each other's company! Everything I do in business is worth nothing if I haven't positively nurtured the relationships and people around me in the process.
