Networking Night

Amongst Tim Tams and not needing to set an alarm for the following day, spending time with our Business Chicks community is one of our favourite things to do.

That’s why we’re hosting an exclusive networking night in partnership with The University of Queensland Business School, and this is your invitation to join us. You’ll also hear from Dr Adam Kay, a Lecturer in Management at the UQ Business School, as he shares how he and his colleagues implemented the largest mindfulness training study ever conducted (more on this below!)

Walking into a networking event with Business Chicks feels like walking into a room full of friends. We promise to take the awkward out of networking and will instead help facilitate genuine connections and a night full of fill-your-cup-up conversation.

If you’re worried about coming alone – don’t be! We promise most people come by themselves (and leave with a bunch new friends). So, turn off your computer and come and join us for a drink, a good chat and that warm and fuzzy feeling that being in a room full of the best kind of people gives you.

More on Dr Adam Kay

COVID-19 has heralded in a time of tremendous uncertainty. As a result, employees have been experiencing acute anxiety and stress, more conflict, and less psychological safety. This is a serious problem, as psychological safety is fundamental for team functioning and performance. To investigate what organisations can do to address this challenge, amidst the pandemic Dr Adam Kay and colleagues implemented the largest mindfulness training study ever conducted: a randomised controlled trial involving six weeks of online mindfulness training delivered to 885 healthcare employees across 183 work teams. Results show the training improved psychological safety, but only for teams with a mindful leader. Building from this ground-breaking study, this Masterclass will inform you what “mindful leadership” is, how it works, why it is so important for effective team functioning, and what you can do in practical terms to become a more mindful leader and cultivate psychological safety at work.
