Some people say Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. Us? We say it’s International Women’s Day.

After all, it’s when we get to celebrate being us. Being women. We celebrate that, despite all the barriers, the invisible load, gender inequality and discrimination, women still thrive. We fight. We shatter glass ceilings. We stand in solidarity with each other. We find the strength to keep going, no matter what life hurls at us.

IWD is when we reflect on the past and reimagine the future. And it’s when we hear stories – sometimes uplifting, sometimes heartbreaking, always powerful – from extraordinary women. This year’s line-up includes:

WINITHA BONNEY OAM

Winitha is a globally recognised and award-winning leader and speaker. With a background of over 20 years experience as a C-Suite executive in North America and Australia, she’s led organisation-wide transformation projects and managed billion-dollar budgets. Winitha was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 2021 and is known for being a dynamic speaker and thought leader.

LISA CURRY

Lisa Curry is one of Australia’s most celebrated athletes, a triple Olympian, and a champion in both sport and health. With a career spanning decades, she has represented Australia on the world stage, winning numerous medals and setting records in swimming.

Beyond her sporting achievements, Lisa is a passionate advocate for women’s health. As the co-founder of Happy Healthy You, she leads the charge in providing natural, science-backed solutions for hormonal health, supporting women through perimenopause, menopause, and overall wellness.

Lisa empowers a thriving community of over 500,000 women, offering education, support, and guidance to help them take control of their health naturally. Her commitment to holistic well-being continues to transform lives across the country.

AZURE ANTOINETTE

Since being discovered by Oprah Winfrey, Azure has written for and shared stages across the globe with personalities such as Elizabeth Gilbert and Lady Gaga.

Azure is a 17-year survivor of Multiple Sclerosis and has a strong passion for patient advocacy and living well with MS. She has served as brand ambassador, keynote presenter and on-air personality for TED, SXSW, North Face, Genentech, Biogen, Mumbrella 360, Tourism Australia, GLAAD, Clean & Clear, GAP, Beats by Dr. Dre, L’Oreal, Johnson & Johnson and many more.

In April 2021, Azure became the first character to portray her disease on screen and represent the LGBT+ community on the hit series Grey’s Anatomy in its 17th season. As a follow-up to her role on screen, Azure and co-star Kevin McKidd were GRAMMY™ considered for their remake of Snow Patrol’s hit Chasing Cars, amplifying the injustice and inequity for African Americans during the height of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Off screen, you can find Azure working in her boutique branding agency, advising on empathetic and equitable practices, campaigns, and devising storytelling strategies for clients.
